MANCHESTER, NH, June 9, 2016 – Today at SilverTech Headquarters in Manchester, Governor Maggie Hassan announced her Innovate NH 2.0 economic plan. SilverTech’s Senior Director of Technology, Derek Barka, introduced Governor Hassan and took the opportunity to reflect upon the need for business participation in a successful economy.
“Our founders grew up in Manchester, attended Manchester schools, and decided that New Hampshire was the place that they wanted to start their business. They could have chosen to move out of state, but recognized so many of the the benefits that we have here in New Hampshire,” stated Barka.
Relying heavily on college and university partnerships to fuel its internship program, SilverTech prides itself on nurturing local technical talent. It’s for this reason that SilverTech has partnered with other local businesses to spearhead innovative programs like STEAM Ahead at West High School.
With over a dozen former interns employed in its Manchester, NH office, SilverTech needs local high-tech workers to continue to grow its business. Governor Hassan’s strong support of the community college and university system allows the state to keep qualified, smart workers in NH. This is essential to growing NH’s economy.
During her time in office, Governor Hassan has amplified this positive momentum, focused on working with members of both parties to empower small businesses to grow here in the Granite State. Her leadership and support of programs like Live Free and Start and K-12 STEM initiatives have opened additional opportunities to become involved and see positive growth in our local communities.
“We need Washington to take the same approach,” Barka concluded.
