SilverTech’s incredible website design and Kentico CMS customization work for the New Hampshire Historical Society (NHHS) has been recognized as a Top 10 Kentico Website for July 2016. The website was recognized alongside Microsoft Bing Ads, the International Labour Organization, and Paralympic development in Canada.
Founded in 1823, the New Hampshire Historical Society (NHHS) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving, preserving, and sharing New Hampshire history. The Society is not a state-funded agency, but serves thousands of children and adults each year through its exhibitions, research library, educational programs, and award-winning publications. All of its programs and services are made possible by membership dues and contributions.
- The New Hampshire Historical Society (NHHS) sought to vibrantly showcase portions of its collection of more than 2 million historical artifacts, documents, and photographs.
- NHHS also sought to unite their multiple ‘best of breed’ but disconnected databases, PastPerfect and MINISIS, implemented at various times since the late-1990s.
- Further, NHHS sought to display an interactive New Hampshire history timeline that responsively featured articles about notable events.
SilverTech knew that the main challenge would be uniting the multiple databases and showcasing the more than 100,000 historical artifacts, documents, and photographs that would be displayed at the site’s initial launch and grow over time.
Following a deep-dive technology documentation and assessment, the uncovering of organizational goals and expected outcomes, and the creation of target audiences and personas, the SilverTech creative team developed high-fidelity, clickable wireframes to illustrate the user journey through the website.
The stunning new website gives visitors a vibrant and easy to navigate tour of New Hampshire’s history. Artifacts, documents, and photographs are more accessible than they have ever been and the visitor’s experience is never weighed down by the heavy technical lifting happening in the background. Whether the site visitor is a researchers, student, or potential donor, each gets a valuable, relevant experience that strengthens the bond of loyalty they feel towards the New Hampshire Historical Society and New Hampshire’s rich history.
Since the site’s launch, overall bounce rate has decreased by 10.64%, organic search traffic has increased 33%, and conversions for both newsletter signups and donations have seen a significant upward trend.
“With our powerful new website now built, we are excited to turn our focus…to adding more content to our collections catalog and the Timeline of New Hampshire History.”
Joan Desmarais – Vice President, New Hampshire Historical Society
